‘Chainsaw Man’ Episode 4: Recap And Ending, Explained: Why Did Power Betray Denji?

In episode 4 of "Chainsaw Man," we see a flashback to the cause of Power's behavior. She used to live in the wild, hunting animals and drinking their blood to survive. Just when Denji goes to fulfill his wish, the Bat Devil's girlfriend, the Leech Devil, appears and cuts off Denji's arm, causing him to lose a lot of blood and preventing him from fully transforming into his Chainsaw form. He is only able to defeat the Leech Devil with the help of Hayakawa and his contracted devil.

After the incident, Hayakawa takes Denji under his wing and teaches him the ways of the world. He also arranges for Power to be assigned as Denji's roommate, which does not sit well with either of them. However, Makima trusts Hayakawa to keep Power in line and he agrees to house her, regretting it almost immediately.
